Department Overview
The U.S. Department of State (DoS), The Bureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services, Charleston has a requirement for a Compensation Analyst in the Office of Global Compensation. The Compensation Analyst position will be responsible for payroll processing, analysis, auditing, and monitoring of payroll in the office of American Pay Processing. Services include time and attendance, payroll, annuity payments, customer support, withholding, benefits, record keeping and reporting for our employees working domestically and overseas at our Embassies and Missions. Global Compensation’s primary goal is to provide world-class compensation services to its customers. This position will support the DS (Diplomatic Security) Bureau exclusively. Diplomatic Security is the federal law enforcement and security bureau of the U.S. Department of State. Tasked with securing diplomacy and protecting the integrity of U.S. travel documents, the Diplomatic Security Service has the largest global reach of any U.S. federal law enforcement agency, with offices in 29 U.S. cities and in more than 270 locations around the world.
Minimum/General Requirements:
- A four-year degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Provides support like a Senior Financial Analyst, but in a narrower range of operations and under closer supervision of more senior personnel. A financial analyst would support a defined operation or function, such as examination for invoices for technical errors, recommending action to certifying officials, processing transaction exceptions according to prescribed procedures, recording obligations, recording expenditures, preparing source documentation for requisitions for services, or maintaining memorandum records supporting budget formulation and/or execution.
- Experience with payroll, accounting or financial analysis required
- High levels of confidentiality, ethics and integrity is required
Job Responsibility:
The Compensation Analysts primary responsibilities are T&A reporting (bi-monthly), pay calculation, individual leave accounts, allotments of pay, and other individual pay matters for those paid under local compensation plans at serviced-posts. Specific Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Calculate and process reported Time & Attendance
- Answer T&A General Inquiries
- Answer Ticket Transfers
- Clear CEA errors after T&A posts
- Process Biweekly pay cap waivers

Work Schedule
To be hired, the candidate must reside in the state of South Carolina. This position supports a government contract and is subject to the government agency rules and management.
Currently, after initial onboarding, training, and performance milestones,a partial telework schedule can be approved for your work flexibility, subject to client requirements. Work hours are 40 hours per week between the hours of 6:15 am - 6:00 pm. Core working hours are 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Work Schedule is defined based on the work requirements of our client’s division, Global Financial Services. The contract has a non-compensated, 45-minute lunch Monday through Friday.
